A teenage girl about 17 had gone to
visit some friends one evening and
time passed quickly as each shared
their various experiences of the
past year.
She ended up staying longer than
planned, and had to walk home alone.
She wasn't afraid because it was a
small town and she lived only a few
blocks away.
As she walked along under the tall elm
trees, Diane asked God to keep
her safe from harm and danger.
When she reached the alley, which was
a short cut to her house, she
decided to take it.
However, halfway down the alley she
noticed a man standing at the end
as though he were waiting for her.
She became uneasy and began to pray,
asking for God's protection.
Instantly a comforting feeling of
quietness and security wrapped round
her, she felt as though someone was
walking with her.
When she reached the end of the alley,
she walked right past the man
and arrived home safely.
The following day, she read in the
newspaper that a young girl had been
raped in the same alley just twenty
minutes after she had been there.
Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy
and the fact that it could have
been her, she began to weep.
Thanking the Lord for her safety and
to help this young woman, she
decided to go to the police station.
She felt she could recognize the man,
so she told them her story.
The police asked her if she would be
willing to look at a lineup to see
if she could identify him.
She agreed and immediately pointed out
the man she had seen in the
alley the night before.
When the man was told he had been
identified, he immediately broke down
and confessed.
The officer thanked Diane for her
bravery and asked if there was
anything they could do for her.
She asked if they would ask the man
one question.
Diane was curious as to why he had not
attacked her.
When the policeman asked him, he
answered, "Because she wasn't alone.
She had two tall men walking on either
side of her."
Amazingly, whether you believe or not,
you're never alone. Did you know
that 98% of teenagers will not stand
up for God?

Well I bet you read this note because
of the title.. didn't you? This is a true story of something that happened just a few years ago at USC.
There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed atheist.
His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester to prove that God couldn't exist.
His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic.
Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one had ever really gone against him because of his reputation.
At the end of every semester on the last day, he would say to his class of 300 students, "If there is anyone here who still believes in Jesus, stand up!"
In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say, "Because anyone who believes in God is a fool".
If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that He is God, and yet He can't do it."
And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces.
All of the students would do nothing but stop and stare.
Most of the students thought that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a number of Christians had slipped through, but! for 20 years, they had been too afraid to stand up.
Well, a few years ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll.
He was a Christian, and had heard the stories about his professor.
He was required to take the class for his major, and he was afraid. But for three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage to stand up no matter what the professor said, or what the class thought.
Nothing they said could ever shatter his faith...he hoped.
Finally, the day came. ! The professor said, "If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300 people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the classroom.
The professor shouted, "You FOOL!!!
If God existed, he would keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit the ground!"
He proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his fingers, off his shirt cuff, onto the pleat of his pants, down his leg, and off his shoe. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away unbroken. The professor's jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man, and then ran out of the lecture hall.
The young man who had stood, proceeded to walk to the front of the room and shared his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300 students stayed and listened as he told of God's love for them and of His power through Jesus.
You have 2 choices:

2. Pass this along to your Christian and non-Christian friends, giving them encouragement we all need every day.

I love the Philippines but lately I've been hearing about so many things happening over there and they made me remember how scared I was before to commute, or to go out every time. As she was getting into her car after doing her chores, a man suddenly appeared beside her and tried to bully her into moving to the passenger seat. When she pressed her car horn to call attention, he pushed her in the car and pinned her down with his elbow on her neck. It was a good thing that she had the presence of mind to continue to struggle and press on her car horn to catch attention (even if she had to use her foot to do this). Her assailant even tried to make people believe that it was a domestic matter by telling the crowd not to get involved as it was a "private matter". But with the onlookers multiplying by the second, her assailant finally gave up and ran. That was when she stood up and shouted for help. Thank God the guy got caught and is now under police custody.
Last Saturday, during the inquest, she told me that what gave her the guts to fight her assailant was the article "THROUGH A RAPIST'S EYES" forwarded to our e-group about a week prior to her attack. I am re-forwarding the article (you can find it at the bottom of this e-mail) for everyone's benefit. Please tell your friends, family, and loved ones about this. It works. May I just add that to a certain extent, we have to get ourselves involved if we see violence being committed on anyone like calling on a security guard or a police officer even if it appears to be a domestic matter. It seems that a lot of attackers use that tactic to get away with violence. Not many people know how to take care of themselves when faced with such a situation. Everyone, please be very, very careful. THOUGHT THIS WAS GOOD INFO TO PASS ALONG...
FYI - Through a rapist's eyes! A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:
1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman w ith a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.
2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.
3] They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.
4] The number one place women are abducted from/attacked at is a grocery store parking lot.
5] Number two are office parking lots/garages.
6] Number three are public restrooms.
7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.
8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.
9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.
10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.
POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER: 1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like 'what time is it', or make general small talk like 'can't believe it is so cold out here, we're in for a bad winter'. Now that you've seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.
2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell 'Stop!' or 'Stay back!' Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.
3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling 'I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY!' and holding it out will be a deterrent.
4] If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh - HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.
5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.
6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.
7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.
FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ...
I know you are smart enough to know these pointers but there will be some time, when you will go "Hmm... I must remember that." After reading, forward it to someone you care about. Never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.
2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans: If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet and/or purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.) DON'T DO THIS!The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS...LEAVE!
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
a. Be aware. Look around you. Look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times. And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

How a photocopier works! lol!:)
- First, the surface of a drum is given an electro-static charge by a
high-voltage wire called a corona wire. The drum is coated with a
semiconductor material, such as selenium or germanium.
- Then light is beamed in thin strips onto the image. Only the white
areas of the picture reflect this light. The light then hits the drum,
which is specially conditioned to make it photoconductive. This means
that when light hits it, it neutralizes the positive charges.
- As a result, the white areas of the picture are now neutral, and the black areas are positive.
- The toner is negatively charged. When it is applied to the drum, it
sticks to the areas that are positively charged, just like paper sticks
to a charged balloon.
- The toner is then attracted onto a positively charged piece of paper.
- The toner is a dry ink substance. If paper came out of the
photocopier covered in dry toner it would just brush off, so the toner
is heated to make it melt and to bind it to the paper.

let's see.. I've been in college for at least 3 weeks now and there's a few pieces of advice that I'd like to give you HS students (which I was just a few months ago)..
for my fellow college freshmen, go ahead and pitch in ideas and advice for our younger friends.. haha..:)
1. IF and only IF you know that you can balance your extra-curricular activities and your studies, go ahead and get into AS MANY extra-curricular activities as you can..
advisably varsity teams for athletes and P.A for performers :)
Explanation: High school is but preparation for college. just like how it prepares you mentally for all the things you have to learn to understand the deeper and more complicated things in college, it also gives you the load (e.g activities, projects, practices, etc.) which will make you stronger and more flexible.. this way, because of all the activities, you can risk your grades in HS but then grow stronger because of all the trials and activities you've been through..
besides, you never know if you're gonna be able to get into orgs or varsity teams in college anymore.. it's not that easy since you really have to prioritize your studies.. esp. if you get into quota courses or honors courses. in my case, sadly, i had to say goodbye to softball :( haha.. but it's all good.. studies first eh. :)
Remember: College is the final step. You can mess up in HS but DON'T EVER mess up in college!! College is your last chance to prove yourself in school and after that, it's just little you alone in the big big real world.
Think of it this way, whatever you do in HS (academic-wise) will affect college but whatever you do in college(academic-wise) will affect your future.
2. Study your subjects because you want to LEARN and not because you have to.
TIP: it will be much easier if you study for these subjects because of interest.. get yourself interested in what you guys are discussing.. this way, it won't end up as so much of a burden for you.
kailangan tlga ung mga natutunan sa HS for college.. actually wla pa lang yan eh.. parang alphabet lang.. gets? alphabet in kindergarten that prepares you for Prep..parang ganun..hehe.. just don't think of things so heavily.. keep things light.. you're studying to gain knowledge.. smart is cool! haha :)
3. Friends are Gold!:)
When you go to college, everyone's gonna be separated and the only thing that will keep you together are your bonds of friendship.. love your friends and make them multiply.. haha..:)
Believe me, when you get into your school that seems so full of strangers, it's such a beam of sunlight to see a familiar face in the corridors.. hehe.. plus mas bummer naman un kung nakakita ka na nga ng familiar face, pero kagalit mo pa.. haha.. then you'd have to put up with seeing that not-so-pleasant familiar face everyday.. haha..:)
4. Hone your talents, know who you are
In College, everyone starts out with a fresh slate and you can't be that over-all person anymore since it's new territory.. gets? hehe..people will either know you as that smart girl or that basketball player or that music lover or that nerd.. hehe..that's not a bad thing.. it's just telling people who you really are and it would be really nice if you were a master of something that you can be proud of.. then slowly, after that, people can start finding out all the other great things you have in you :)
Minsan kasi you take your talents for granted.. minsan feeling mo you're all that na.. and when you get to college, you find out that people also do what you do, and sometimes (most of the time) even better than you pa! so diba? parang sayang naman.. you know that you could have done better and that you could be better now.. :)

It was a great day! it was a good
thing my good friends Ryan (PT) and Gibbz(nursing) were there to keep
me company when we still didnt know anyone from our classes.. plus 2 of
Gibbz' friends.. my new friends.. lol :) yey it was a great day! all
the girls from 1PTB (my sec) became friends with each other in a snap
and we're predicting the class will come together soon.. kalog naman
lahat ng tao eh.. haha.. and freaking smart! haha.. so yeah.finding out
how all our classmates are really smart, and how our course is really
hard,got me and Viv really challenged! haha..tulung-tulongan in the
suuper deadly course called Physical Therapy!
